NV Quinta do Portal 10 year old Tawny in Gift Box
Ah, luscious tawny Port, you beauty.
This 10 year old from Quinta do Portal is exactly what you'd want to see in quality tawny. It's richly textured, impossibly dense and so long it defies belief.
What sets this apart compared to many Aussie tawny styles is that its more savoury and less sweet.
Full and persistent, with lifted Christmas cake aromas leading to a richly textured, warming palate bolstered by an almond weave and a touch of spicy tannins. 92 points - Decanter
How's it taste?
Lively tawny in colour, it shows an intense of aroma of fresh red berries and dried fruits along with developed aromas of caramel and cafe au lait. It's full-bodied yet balanced by fine acidity, with nutty and dried fruit flavours as well as some peppery notes. Serve slightly chilled with creme-brulee, vanilla ice-cream or apple pie. Also delicious with foie-gras. Enjoy it with tarte tatin or macadamia ice-cream.
