We won't lie to you - this is quality French sparkling, just not Champagne. But it doesn't have the Champagne pricetag either.

What makes this tasty is that clean, fresh palate. It's an aperitif style of bubbly that is all about vitality, the flavours lively, the finish soft and fresh. It's an overachiever, a proper French bubbly but also so so approachable too.

Perfect for celebrating all year round!

Expert Reviews

Joe Czerwinski - Wine EnthusiastFruit-forward and simple, this wine's pleasant apple and citrus flavors begin to dull as the carbonation rapidly fades in the glass.
Roger Voss - Wine EnthusiastClean and soft with some good citrus flavors, this well-known brand is reliable, fresh and fruity. In a light, apéritif style, it finishes crisp, clean and just off dry.
Joe Czerwinski - Wine EnthusiastThis is a blend of white grapes from various parts of France, and thus ineligible for any appellation contrôlée. Yes, the bead is a little larger than it might be if the wine's second fermentation had been in the bottle, but the costs associated with that would price it well out of the value range. Still, it does ferment for seven months before aging on the lees for an additional nine, acquiring toasty, autolytic notes to complement its ripe fruit flavors. It's a soft, approachable bubbly ideal for large holiday crowds.
Michael Schachner - Wine EnthusiastShows some smoke and other hard, burnt aromas in front of a bright apple-based palate that blends in pineapple, pear and mango. Good on the tongue, with clean, fresh flavors and balance. Tastes pure and lively. Imported by Cannon Wines Limited.
Sam Kim - Wine OrbitMade from chardonnay, it is instantly appealing on the nose showing rockmelon, nectarine, citrus and floral notes, followed by a vibrant palate that is fruity and refreshing. A friendly sparkling wine offering bright fruit flavours and a lingering smooth finish. NZ Distributor: Eurovintage.

How's it taste?

Fresh fruit aromas flow through to the palate along with crisp, clean flavours of apple and pear. A wonderfully dry finish leaves the mouth refreshed. Perfect for celebrating all year round

How was it made?

A Blanc de Blancs - a blend of only white grapes Chardonnay and Ugni Blanc. AOC France with some grapes coming from the large Burgundy area this wine has seen 7 months on lees and 9 months in the cellar after bottling.

Who made it?

Kriter is one of the key labels for the Patriarche winery based in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. Drawing in fruit from Burgundy and all over France, this historic winery dates all the way back to 1780. Kriter is now one of the biggest drawcards for the winery, recognised as one of France's most popular sparkling wines outside of Champagne

I love experimenting with wines and encourage our Wine Collective members to try something different all the time. It’s amazing how the same grape variety from 2 different regions made by 2 different wine makers can taste so different. Some wines can be enjoyed on their own while others are better with food. If we all liked the same thing we’d be pretty boring.
