How's it taste?

In this unique mixed dozen you will find two bottles of each of the below wines plus detailed tasting notes in each case.

How was it made?

2 x Tomboy Hill William's Picking Chardonnay 2013 | 95 points James Halliday
Established in 1984, Tomboy Hill is the brainchild of Ian Watson who has focused his efforts on producing world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using premium fruit from Ballarat. Achieving the renowned Halliday five red star rating, Tomboy Hill has become recognised for extracting the best quality the region has to offer. This Chardonnay was inspired by the wines of Meursault in Burgundy and is a full-bodied yet graceful wine.

2 x Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 2013 | 96 points James Halliday
Tyrrell’s Wines is one of Australia’s most iconic family-owned wineries. Headed up by Bruce Tyrrell, the winery is home to some of Australia’s most awarded wines including the renowned Vat 1 Semillon, which we were fortunate enough to secure for your pack. A classic example of a Hunter Valley Semillon with a tightly structured palate, vibrant citrus flavours and incredible length with the potential for a long life in the cellar. Dripping in accolades from some of Australia’s top critics this must-try iconic Australian wine.

2 x Credaro 1000 Crowns Chardonnay 2016 | 95 points James Halliday
The Credaro family first settled in the Margaret River in 1922 and have been making wine in the region ever since. Originally for family consumption only it wasn’t until the 80s that they began commercially selling their wine. Today they manage over 140ha and their wines have earned a reputation for producing elegant wines. The 1000 crowns range pays homage to the sum of 1000 crowns that the pioneering Credaro brothers used to secure a future in Australia. The wines themselves use only the best premium fruit to capture true regional and varietal definition, and this Chardonnay is case in point.

2 x Flowstone Queen of The Earth Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 | 96 points James Halliday
Flowstone is a small producer nestled in the Margaret River region, who are committed to growing wines that capture the characteristics of region and vineyard. Crafted with fruit from an old growth vineyard in Wilyabrup, the fruit for this wine has been hand-picked then opent fermented for 17 days before being placed in French oak for three years. Once bottled it was then left for a further 15 months before being released. Only 92 dozen of this wine were made and we’ve included it in your pack so you don’t miss our on trying this powerful, pure Margaret River gem.

2 x St Hallett Old Block Shiraz 2014
“Average vine age 88 years, hand-picked, a combination of open and tank fermentation, some whole bunches included, matured in French oak. A masterpiece created from ancient vines and the continuing skilled winemaking team at St Hallett. This is elegance of the highest degree, with medium-bodied, supple red and black fruits flowing along the prodigiously long palate and aftertaste, the use of French oak the key.” 97 points, James Halliday's Wine Companion.

2 x Bodegas Carrillo de Albornoz Finca Las Tenadas Tempranillo 2014
Bodegas Carrillo de Albornoz was created from a family tradition of winemaking which was passed down from generation to generation. The family has a deep respect for nature and enthusiasm for viticulture that sees them fusing traditional techniques with modern oenology to create wines that capture the quality of the fruit. Crafted from 100% Tempranillo, the grapes for this wine were taken from the “La Tenada” family estate and has given the wine it aromatic and exciting personality.
