How's it taste?

In this mixed dozen you will find two bottles of each of the below wines plus detailed tasting notes in each case.

How was it made?

2 x Chaffey Bros. Wine Co. Kontrapunkt 2017
A complex nose with notes of grapefruit, petrol and tomato leaf layered over green apple, sherbet and blossom notes. The palate is ripe, off-dry in style but clean and refreshing thanks to the crisp acid. Lovely texturally with flavours if pear, mango and vanilla bean. Very moreish.
2 x Shining Rock Viognier 2017
“Minimal oak use. A wine with very considerable power and presence, apricot, peach and fresh ginger combining on the back-palate with an almost
savoury impact. There are no oily phenolics to mar this very interesting wine.” 93 points, James Halliday 's Wine Companion
2 x Abbey Vale RSV Margaret River Chardonnay 2016
This a modern expression of the best that is Margaret River Chardonnay. Whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented, this wine is then aged on lees for 9 months in barrel. Careful barrel selection and bottle maturation results in a wine of great complexity and mineral drive. Notes of gunflint and citrus, further complexed with ripe stone fruits and understated oak result in a beautifully balanced wine.
2 x Winemaker's Selection Mandala Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2017
Bright red fruits on the nose that open up onto a palate of raspberry, dark cherry and hints of savoury spices. Medium-bodied with soft tannins gives a fine acid structure to a long finish.
2 x Cirillo Single Vineyard Shiraz 2015
"Fleshy textured, supple, shows some malt and dark berry fruit characters, touch of meaty-gamey character. Hearty red but still retains freshness, packed with cherry cola and liquorice, savouriness, pepper, chinotto. Mouthwatering finish, bright flavours, really delicious wine here." 93 points, Mike Bennie.
2 x Driftwood Artifacts Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Vibrant fruits of the forest, spearmint, aniseed and sweet spices enveloped by integrated toasty oak on the nose. The palate offers bright bramble berry flavours, choc mint, bay leaf and lovely toasty mocha oak. The dense fruit is supported by supple tannins, bright acidity and a long finish.
