Perky and frisky thanks to the acidity, which mingles with the pear and stone fruit flavours and funky sulphides. Spicy with lots of creamy lees, almost yoghurt-like; there’s a succulence across the palate, then the racy acidity takes over. Another six months or so in bottle would allow this to settle.

To be honest, I’d pretty much never choose to drink a bottle of Pinot Gris. Pinot Grigio made in a crisp style, yes. Pinot Grigio made as a skin contact wine, definitely (and there’s another word I invariably spell incorrectly).  I’d bracket Pinot Gris in with Viognier. Not something I like much. All that being said, one tries to review wines on merit, rather than personal taste. If personal taste came into it, it would be a hard NO for so many wines that deserve better. Struck match, pear and apricot, also plenty of parmesan rind. some jasmine perfume hiding out the back. It’s juicy and features pear and stone fruit drizzled with honey, but also has quite a cheese cloth thing happening, which some may love, though I find it a bit too lactic and gluey. Still, it has some freshness to acidity, and a finish of good length. There’s also something of a peanut oil character about it. Good wine, interesting, a slight warmth and glycerol thing on the finish is a minor intrusion. Also tastes like it has a bit of botrytis richness, perhaps.
