Brilliant, deep red in color with a bright scarlet hue, the wine displays intense aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and black olive complemented by hints of fresh thyme and subtle vanillin oak . This medium bodied wine with firm coating tannins and excellent length displays a concentrated palate with plum, cherry and chocolate flavors and hint of mocha and vanilla derived from oaked maturation .

Houghton was founded in 1836 by a syndicate of three British Army Officers and named after the most senior of the three-Lieutenant Colonel Richmond Houghton. Throughout its history, Houghton has built an enviable reputation shaping the Western Australian winemaking landscape.
