How's it taste?
A very crystalline riesling on the nose with hints of white citrus flower and blossom. The soft and delicate approach builds with a combination of lime and bath salts. Delicate crystalline flavours on the palate show a dry precise Riesling with texture, spice and delicate acidity that give the wine focus and fantastic length. Consistent with the well-established Rieslings from Frankland Estate, this wine displays the balance of pristine fruit flavours and laser-like acidity, allied to generosity of fruit.
How was it made?
Frankland Estate Riesling was made from 100% organic-certified Riesling grown on the family's estate vineyards. A selection of small ferments was made from parcels of fruit harvested in some younger vines planted in 2006 on a high ironstone rocky ridge in the ironstone ‘coffee rock’ – the classic soil from the Frankland Estate property. This combines with some of Frankland Estate’s original parcels of Riesling planted in 1988. Grapes are pressed immediately on arrival at the winery with the juice left to settle in tank overnight before being racked. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel tanks at relatively low temperatures (less than 14 deg C) over 4-6 weeks with minimal intervention in order to obtain the purest expression of the pristine, organically grown fruit. The wine was then left on its fermentation lees prior to bottling.

Characteristic intensity and concentration with a wealth of fresh citrus fruits, nectarine here, as well as stony minerals. The palate holds a very refined stance with power and focus. The same citrus and stone fruits are here and there’s a refined, fresh finish.

Rich in the mouth with the floral stepping back on the palate and much more of the apples, pears and peaches taking the stage. I would advise getting a little lively with your food matches, there’s plenty of flavour and weight to work with and also crisp acidity to keep it all fresh. Start marinating stuff and chuck it on the grill, let your inner Jamie Oliver fly with big squeezes of citrus and freshly chopped herbs and serve with a big glass of this.
