Arnaud Roux-Oulié, the artist winemaker behind Carlmagnus Arnaud Roux-Oulié is the third generation of a family of winegrowers and was trained by his grandfather from his youth. When he took over the reins of the estate at the age of 20, he decided to buy 2 hectares in the Fronsac appellation. As a tribute to the glorious past of the appellation, and its close links with Charlemagne, he decided to call his new estate Carlmagnus . Dynamic and passionate, Arnaud Roux-Oulié bought Château Francs-Magnus in 2011, a wine estate in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation that benefits from a prestigious wine heritage. The 10-hectare vineyard of Francs-Magnus enjoys a privileged location because it rests directly on a vast stone quarry, identical to those of the Saint-Emilion plateau, which was built to preserve the bottles. The limestone soil brings minerality and elegance to the wine.
