The Dandelion Vineyards Story
Dandelion Vineyards defies normal description, it is perhaps Australia's most quixotic fusion of vineyard and vigneron. Every bottle signs off with - Wish you were here... Every wine is sourced from a single site. Founder, owner, winemaker - Elena Brooks - is a polymath and perfectionist on a lifelong vinous treasure hunt, following the inspiration of the Dandelion Flower's Wishing Clock. Vineyards = Family. Wines = Children. Serious stuff. Proper fun, absolutely.
Why's this wine for you?

Elena Brooks, you're our hero.

The mastermind behind Sister’s Run, Dandelion and Heirloom vineyards is unstoppable. A year ago Elena won the prestigious 'New World Producer of The Year' at the UK's massive Sommelier Wine Awards 2020 - the first time an Australian winery had won. Recently at The McLaren Vale Wineshow, her 2020 Lion’s Tooth Shiraz Riesling was awarded the prestigious ‘Bushing Monarchs’ title, signifying the best wine in the show.

Incredible. We definitely can’t wait to get a hold of that. But in the meantime, we’ll be whetting our palates with this: Elena’s Kindred Skies of Eden Valley Riesling 2021.

It’s maddeningly aromatic, showing honeysuckle, lemon zest and quartz with a spicy, musky florality. A fresh acidity cuts its way through a tightly bound core of concentrated citrus fruit flavours - some ripe, some whole, some juicy, some tart. Clean yet deep, long yet bright; it is full and giving yet shows poise and restraint.

This really is Eden Valley Riesling at it’s finest. A marvellous achievement from a winemaker at the top of her game.

How's it taste?
Pale-gold; faint viscosity, showing some light body. Aromas of honeysuckle, cactus flower, rainwater on slate, and citrus zest. Candied peel follows, with musk and spice. An aromatic perfume that wafts beguilingly rather than strikes... But strikes it next does, with some immediacy on every part of your palate. There is a cutting acidity that sears its way through a tightly bound core of concentrated citrus fruit flavours - some ripe, some whole, some juicy, some tart. The texture is at once clean yet deep, long yet bright; it is full and giving yet also ethereal. One sip seems generous, the next aloof. Riesling in its essential and true guise?Pair with strident food flavours: calamari with salt, chilli, and pepper; a tiny bowl of XO noodles; spicy sausage with sauerkraut. It can handle it.
How was it made?
The wine has high natural acidity, low pH and although bone dry, an alcohol of only 11%. This Kindred Skies 2021 of the Eden Valley Riesling was bottled to capture the essence of the vineyard, a looking glass if you will, and is ready to drink immediately or cellar for decades.

Ken Gargett -
A really good Eden Valley Riesling. Don't miss it. Whole bunches hand-picked then destemmed without crushing. Free run juice went to a small cooled tank and then spent five months on lees. Very pale in colour. Beautifully aromatic, this delightful Riesling walks the line between intensity and elegance. Gentle perfumes of citrus and florals, chalk and bath salts. There is immaculate balance here, with good focus and excellent length. An absolute cracker. Such an exciting wine. This will provide pleasure for the next decade and more.
