Winemakers Note

The estate Château Croix-Mouton is located on the banks of the Dordogne and Fronsadais. The story tells in writing that this property belonged in the nineteenth century to the illustrious family of Libourne merchants Chaperon. But the story of the former owner is particularly moving: Doctor Barde practiced in the 1930s on the village of Vayres and recommended to his patients to drink... his wine! In 1997 Jean-Philippe Janoueix, already the owner of wineries in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, decided to buy this 70ha large vineyard with the goal to make Château Croix-Mouton one of the finest ambassadors of Bordeaux Supérieur. To do so, in 2020 he decided to join forces with Betrand Ravache. The estate, HVE3 certified, produces a pleasure wine which is excellent in its youth. The vintage - "No pain, no gain" The 2021 vintage was a very challenging one. The teams have given their best and shown tenacity in order to be able to offer a wine with on the fruit with a nice freshness. Each year, the M of Château Croix-Mouton label is a reflection of its time. This year, it is inspired by the old American box posters - "No Pain, No gain".
