Tasting Notes

Medium to dark red with a purple edge. Red cherry, red currants and a spicy/savoury clove edge lifts from the glass while more delicate aromas of violets, Mulberries and black currant together with subtle chocolate notes add further layers of complexity. Delicate red berry and red currant fruits fill the palate while ripe, elegant, well integrated tannins add structure. The red cherry and red currant flavours linger endlessly, giving great length and seamless purity, leaving the consumer salivating for more.

Winemakers Note

As a heart specialist, Peter Thompson has spent his professional career learning how a balanced contribution of each of the Four Chambers of the heart is essential to the balance of life. Wine also demands a balance of viticulture, winemaking, maturation and presentation. The joy of making wine in Margaret River can liberate a certain passion and creativity which the Four Chambers range expresses. The fruit was gently machine harvested and processed into red fermenters where they are tenderly pumped over three times a day during fermentation to maximize colour extraction. Gentle handling of the fruit and wine ensures varietal character and freshness is maintained. The winter period largely sets the tone for our growing period here in Margaret River and in 2019, the season started with mild winter conditions and lower than average rainfall. Dry and warm spring conditions locked in lower yields and minimal disease pressure, however these warm conditions strongly contributed to an earlier than average start to the harvest period. The consequence of the limited yield resulted in wines with great intensity and concentration of flavour, although the quantity was down, the quality of the 2020 vintage is some of the best we have seen. Vegan friendly.
