Purple and youthful in the glass. Brambly blackberry aromas, blueberry, spice, dried herbs, sarsaparilla and menthol. Plenty of dark, slurpy black fruit flavours, plum, mulberry, licorice and date. Firm tannin and bright acidity shape the wine nicely and provide structure, length and a sophisticated savouriness.

The Brief
Why's this wine for you?

Right now, you're reading the description of a Barossa Shiraz with a difference. Something special. Better. Faster. More interesting. Barossa Shiraz 2.0.

Made by an up and comer, with some serious local pedigree (he grew up in the Barossa, on a vineyard that regularly made its way into Grange) this is described by those in the know, as being one of the finest examples of what the next-gen are doing with Shiraz.

It all starts in the vineyard. With handpicked grapes, hand sorted, with 25% whole bunches, the wine matured with less new oak, and finished off with no fining or filtration. The result? Well, it's a mystery wine, but a better mystery wine. From a winemaker who know their craft, using beautiful fruit, and making a wine that is spicier, more fragrant, more medium bodied.

How's it taste?
Serious Shiraz here, but with lift and life. Red and black cherry fruits interplay here with spices, tea, and wild herbal notes. A little veil of oak too, but all very well in check.Nice richness without being overly so, there’s a great presence of tannin on the palate Indicating that for all its drinkability now it has a long life ahead of it.
How was it made?
The fruit is sourced from Stonewell, Light Pass, Eden Valley and Vine Vale. It is all hand picked with wild yeast starting the ferment (18% whole bunches in the mix). The resulting wine, after low-input oak ageing is left unfined and unfiltered.
