2020 Head Wines Head Red Grenache Shiraz Mataro

6 x 750ml
40% Grenache, 35% Shiraz, 25% Mataro. Vine age between 20 and 80 years. GW: Black fruit, dried herb perfume, liquorice, cinnamon. Ripe and succulent, some chocolate in there, light tannin, pulls along with some more grip on the finish. Hearty and generous. Easy to get into. 92 points MB: Woody sniffs, clove and cinnamon spice, dark plummy fruit, big flavour, soft texture, less oak seasoning felt here, pillowy and ripe fruited. Feels like a simple but polished version of heartland Barossa neck oil, with a nice swish of fine tannin in there too. Will be a winner for those seeking bolder, lush GSM vibes. 88 points Read more

This captures the inherent depth of fruit from red-toned grenache, through blue and darker-berry aromas and flavors, in a very approachable style. Uncluttered, fresh-cut tannin texture and a bright finish. Drink now. Screw cap.
