The colour is impressively bright, deep purple/red, with a sousbois, undergrowth note on the nose combined with ripe dark plums and mulberries, while the palate is intense and lively, concentrated and fleshy, with fruit sweetness. It has a little more grip than most Beaujolais and is vibrant and almost succulent in the mouth. A totally delicious wine.

The Brief
Why's this wine for you?

If there is a wine that suits all seasons it has to be Beaujolais. Especially the bigger bolder and muscular Cru’s like Morgon, who can be light footed and fruity by day and masquerade as shadow seeking, stealth missiles by night.

Morgon has it all, the second largest cru with iron rich soils has set the trend for a new wave of serious wine drinkers. They may be draped in denim shirts and chinos and drinking out of mason jars ‘mon Dieu!’ but they know their Beaujolais cru’s and so should you.

Domaines Louis-Claude Desvignes’s Cellars has evidence of continuous winemaking since 1722, that’s eight centuries!

Today, brother and sister duo Louis-Benoit and Claude continue the long held wine tradition of vinifying and ageing their wines in cement tanks, to highlight primary fruit and minerality. This means this bottling is perfect to truly gain a grasp of those granitic soils of this lieu - dit (named vineyard) Morgon Corcelette.

How's it taste?
Aromas of cherries, raspberries, sweet spices and peonies introduce the 2020 Morgon Corcelette, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and especially enveloping wine that's sensual and lively, with bright acids and ripe, powdery tannins. This high-altitude cuvée, produced from purchased grapes, is very successful this year.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
Big wine, bold and full of flavour, dried cherry and raspberry, liquorice, almost chocolaty, spicy and peppery too. Rich silty tannin, good freshness, but also some warmth, slightly baked red fruit comes through on a pretty long finish. A lot to hang to here, but a good wine nevertheless.
