Gorgeously ripe and enticing, showing black/purple berry, rich floral, toasty oak, warm spice and dark chocolate aromas, it's concentrated and plump in the mouth displaying excellent depth and richness, beautifully framed by velvety texture and rounded tannins. There’s a lot of youthful energy with this wine. A beautifully captured regional statement of lifted florals, plum, blueberry, earthiness with a Dutch liquorice saline quality that contributes and accentuates the brightness. The black peppery notes, quite distinct, are a nice regional bonus. The palate is supple in tannins and flavoursome with an attractive lightly savoury quality highlighted with some mocha-choc oak. Many Margaret River producers don’t believe Shiraz has a future in the region, and some who did think it had a future have been slowly grafting it over to Marg’s number one red, Cabernet. That’s where the demand is. I’d like to think that wines like this show what is possible.

The selectively perfumed notes of plum and cherry with a spicy dried herbs lift is immediately engaging. The palate is intense and concentrated, a product of this small vintage. The tannins are also quite firm while the oak has been well managed. There’s a dry sage bush-like character adding to the finish.

Very youthful, deep purple colour, with a brown spice and savoury bouquet, nutty and shy, opening with time in the glass to show aniseed and black fruits. The palate is full-bodied and rich, fleshy and supple, with impressive density and carry. A super-satisfying wine on the palate, long-lasting and the tannins are abundant, balanced and supple. A bit on the inky side, but very good value and has a lot of potential.

Opaque crimson purple; shiraz aspiring to look like a cabernet sauvignon, although the flavour set here ends any confusion. A striking wine that needs a decade's maturation before a final decision on the contradictions can be made.
