The Collective Review

If there were an award for the most consistent cool-climate Shiraz in Australia, it would undoubtedly be Bin 1. For the workhorse Shiraz of the range, this wine was awarded a mighty 95-point rating by James Suckling and delivers a warm hug in a glass. It's vividly aromatic and spicy but also reveals vital red and blackberries. This wine is all about balance and just perfect with barbecued meats or even mildly spiced curry like a Mussaman.

Jeni Port - Halliday's Wine Companion

A vibrant, deeply coloured shiraz with that distinctive Grampians peppery bouquet with briar, black cherry, mixed berry, aniseed and bush mint. Pepperiness lights up the palate which is supple and dark fruited, driving long.

Tasting Notes

Brooding deep red.Notes of pepper, oak, liquorice, deep red fruits with a slight herbaceous stalky character. Deep earthy and dark fruits, a long pallet that is tight along the sides with the slightest hint of savoury herbs. While its young, it will benefit from decanting.

Winemakers Note

Bin No. 1 is a classic, cool-climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that's floral, spicy and peppery yet retains generous fruit characteristics and intensity. It is a well-balanced wine where alcohol does not dominate. This is an elegant wine crafted to drink now, and makes a great accompaniment to food. We highly recommend decanting the 2020 vintage for at least one hour before drinking, alternatively it can be poured through an aerator.
