2019 Two Hands Harriet's Garden Shiraz

APPEARANCE: Deep, dark red with a black core and purple hue. AROMA: A knock-out bouquet of rhubarb, potpourri, fresh cherry, camphor, mint, fresh western red cedar, strawberries and clove. PALATE: Medium bodied, with lovely soft and earthy overtones. It is all rolling with bright red fruits that are backed by iodine and ferrous tannins. This wine is a testament to what can be achieved in South Australia from a super cool climate. This has a line of acidity and a finesse, which is rarely encountered in Australia. All in all this is a fun ride that screams elegance. This wine will age in the medium term but its approach is very enjoyable straight out of the gate.

Fermented in a single three tonne, open-topped fermenter, using 80% whole bunches and the remainder destemmed but not crushed. Gently punched down daily to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Following an 18 day maceration, the wine was pressed with free run and press fractions kept separate. The wine was barreled straight away where Malolactic fermentation took place, with racking occurring only once. It was then aged on fine lees for the duration of maturation.
