One of the country's premier savoury rosé releases, this Longview rosato marries up the high toned delicacy and fragrance of Nebbiolo with Goldilocks style acidity.

You can understand why the previous two vintages of this very wine have been trophy winner, the Longview rosato packing in an uncommon level of purity.

Easily amongst the best rosé in the country, again in fine form.

How's it taste?

Vibrant salmon pink in colour with delicate notes of orange peel, ripe peach and musk aromas. The palate bursts with maraschino cherries and raspberries, then finishes with savoury, refreshing acidity. Lingering and dry; unmistakably Nebbiolo!

How was it made?

All four clones of Nebbiolo planted on own roots present at Longview are processed for Rosato. Clone 111 is the largest portion selected for its amazing perfume lift, with 230, F12V13 and F12V7 allocated for their fruit weight and structural components. Our Nebbiolo blocks were planted in 1997 and are all on north facing slopes in four different areas on the estate. The Nebbiolo is cane pruned and trained to a VSP trellis. It is shoot thinned early to 8-10 shoots/m and then bunch thinned twice to ensure yields are controlled for even ripening and fruit flavour development. Leaf plucking is performed for air circulation late in the season to improve drying conditions. The fruit was hand-picked, then chilled to 10˚C. It was then crushed, de-stemmed and the free run juice separated and fermented for this light rosé style. Bentonite fining and coarse earth filtering ensures a clear, bright pink finish.

Who made it?

Longview is a stunning, family-owned Adelaide Hills single vineyard located just outside the historic township of Macclesfield. Set on undulating slopes reminiscent of old world estates but with a clear Australian accent, it has quickly established itself as one of the most awarded vineyards in the region since its first vintage in 2001. Operations are overseen by brothers Mark and Peter Saturno, along with a small but specialised team. They ensure the vineyard is fastidiously managed to produce the finest fruit for their premium estate grown wines and provide a wine tourism experience that has placed Longview in the South Australian Tourism 'Hall of Fame'.
