All hail cabernet franc. So under-appreciated as a varietal, and yet Leconfield knows how to weave some magic. Aromatics to swoon over and the sweetly-fruited core comes packaged in spice, potpourri and fresh bay leaves, with a savoury overlay. It enjoys a plushness, a softness across the palate, complete with fine tannins. Gorgeous now, but will garner more complexity in time. Read more

Youthful red/purple colour, with a fresh, bright, blackberry and blackcurrant aroma, very classic and varietal, cedar and cassis deliciously aromatic and translating to a superbly drinkable palate. Some crushed leafiness at the core. Soft tannins, fine structure, good persistence. A terrific wine and great value.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front

A brave move releasing a 100% Cabernet Franc, but one I applaud. Raspberry, redcurrant, vanilla, sweet grassy and herb scents, but plenty of sweet fruit to carry it. It’s medium to full-bodied, sweet red fruits, wheatgerm and spice, a little warmth here, but the overall impression is of juicy almond-laced flavour, with a solid finish. Good stuff.

All the bracken-like, arboreal signatures of franc here, and a core of red and blue-berry aromas and flavors. They’ve teased plenty from this variety on the palate with bright, fresh and lively red fruit that holds long. Drink now. Screw cap.

Deepish red colour with a tint of purple and a mulchy, herbal, 'forest floor' bouquet; also red fruit and raspberry notes. The wine is earthy, humus-like and starting to show a little development. Cedar cigarbox emerging with time in the glass. Some chewy tannins to close. Good, and leaves the impression it will be better in a year or two.

Aaron Brasher - The Real Review

Bright and youthful in the glass. Cool, leafy, blackcurrant, dark cherry and menthol aromas. Firm, rich and dark-flavoured, plenty of mulberry, blackberry, cedar and spice. The tannins are very firm, savoury and dry and the acidity is lively. Very youthful, a bit raw at this point, it needs some time to come together

Tasting Notes

Medium to full garnet red incolour. Aromatic fragrant nose showing floral and herb tones with a subliminal hint of cinnamon from oak. This wine has medium body with round textured tannins and finishes long and juicy. Perfectly paired with anything Italian or French inspired. Soft cheeses.
