One of the Marlborough originals, the Allan Scott name is probably best known for great value Sauvignon Blanc - just like this one.

More than just value for money, what's most exciting about the 2019 iteration of this classic Sauv is that it has real power and flavour concentration. From the outset, you're getting a big mouthful of Savvy character with the acidity to match.

Expert Reviews

93 Points - Wine SpectatorStylish, generous and intense, featuring lemon curd, apricot and lime sherbet flavors that are vivid and mouthwatering, accented by details of matcha green tea, white pepper and passion fruit. Delivers terrific follow-through on the finish.

How's it taste?

Fresh, zesty, juicy and full, this fruit driven new world style wine will excite the senses without the racy overload. Tropical fruit with a fresh herbaceous character balanced with zesty passionfruit and a dry finish, this wine will take you straight back to the warmer summer days.

How was it made?

The 2019 growing season was warmer and less windy than usual. This meant during the crucial flowering stage, pollination was a lot lighter than usual. Fortunately, we had the ability to call on Allan Scott and his 44yrs of growing grapes and making wine across the country. Careful planning and meticulous attention in the vineyard kept our grapes growing to their full potential. We’ve been pleased with the quality of good, evenly ripened fruit with solid brix numbers across the varieties.

Who made it?

As one of the first independent wineries to be established in Marlborough, Allan Scott Family Winemakers have made a name for themselves in this highly competitive industry. Allan Scott has nearly 40 years in the wine business, which makes him one of the most experienced people in Marlborough when it comes to growing, making and marketing wine. In 1975 Allan and his wife Catherine purchased a block of land and got into contract growing. Then, when the first independent winemakers started to emerge in Marlborough, Allan and Catherine were in a position to become a part of this new era in New Zealand’s wine industry. In 1990, they launched Allan Scott Wines. The Allan Scott winery has seen some changes since then. Over the 25 years since its inception, the winery has evolved to keep ahead of the changing demands from the market. Perhaps the biggest change for the business has been its evolution into a true family business. Allan and Cathy’s three children have grown up to become valuable members of the business. Elder daughter Victoria is responsible for Marketing, while their son Josh is Chief winemaker, taking responsibility for the variety of wines the winery produces. Younger daughter Sara has also trained as a winemaker, but works mostly in the vineyard.

Wine is such a subjective beast. My brother might love a wine while I absolutely hate it. But that’s why it’s so fascinating - there is something out there for absolutely everyone! So if you haven’t found something that tickles your fancy, here are a few more potential options:
