How's it taste?
The Rocca family understand quality Moscato. Rocca’s Moscato d’Asti comes from 2.5 hectares of 30-year-old vines in the commune of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in the Montersino Cru of Barbaresco (in the southern and highest part of the appellation at 350 metres above sea level), so not a typical source! The mature vines and limestone-rich soil here combine to give a wine of tremendous energy and freshness yet with really lifted, intense, almost Gewurz-like aromatics and flavours of rose water, chamomile, citrus and stone fruit.
How was it made?
The Moscato grapes are planted in one of pur “Sorì” (southern facing) slpoes in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio (Alba). A rough steep terrain, with a marked southern exposure where the work must be done by hand and the producrtion is very small. The result is a sweet, aromatic, slightly fizzy wine with great fullness and satisfaction.
