Yarran has gone further afield for this delicious Shiraz, drawing in fruit from Colbinabbin Estate in the famous Cambrian red dirt soils of Heathcote.

The result is a lovely medium bodied red. Fermented with a portion of whole bunches to give more spice and complexity, the style richly fruited with an overlay of quality oak.

A gold medal winner at the ultra competitive Great Shiraz Challenge, it's a delicious modern wine.

Expert Reviews

95 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine CompanionFrom Colbinabbin Estate, whole bunches tipped straight into open fermenters, matured for 12 months in French oak. Gold medal Great Australian Shiraz Challenge '19. Very astute winemaking has produced a seductively soft shiraz.

How's it taste?

Very approachable Shiraz, raspberry candy and spices off the nose that continues to the pallet adding some plummy features to the mix. Smooth tannins and delicate structure, great for people who are starting out with wines.

How was it made?

Hand picked fruit is tipped directly into open ferment vessels, with no crushing, de-stemming or pumping.

Heathcote, an ideal region for Shiraz with rich red soils and hard Cambrian rock.

A soft, silky style as a result of whole bunch fermentation and partial aging in French oak barrels.

Who made it?

Yarran Wines is a family-owned and operated winery located a short distance from Yenda in the NSW Riverina. Fruit has been grown on the family vineyard for 35 years, but it wasn't until the late 90s that the family started making wines, kicking off with a single Shiraz in 1998. Yarran now makes many different varietal table wines, rich fortified blends and also a classic Riverina Botrytis sweet wine style. Chief Winemaker, Sam Brewer, is always trying something a little less mainstream each year, aiming to overdeliver with quality and produce affordable wines with personality.

When people ask me what my favourite wine is I say “Riesling!” then I follow up with “Shiraz, Cabernet, Champagne ohhh and Pinot Noir!”. Basically, if it tastes delicious I’m here for it, regardless of the varietal. Here are a few vino’s I’ve enjoyed recently, check them out:
