This presents all of the nuance and profile that I found in the Steven’s Road chardonnay, buteverything here is dialled up. This punches through walls and limits of flavour and givesaccurate meaning to saturation, concentration and class. What a wine. Powerful, dense, rippling. The characters that typify this wine and set it apart from many of the other wines in the areais its unwavering ability to present purity and finesse seamlessly alongside concentration andpower. It puts on display the full array of powerful fruit made available to it by the Gin Ginclone and unapologetically shows the spectrum of crushed and toasted cashew, ripe whitestonefruit. It’s the whoosh of salty brine and tight acidity through the finish that swoopsin and tightens everything up. The drawn-out finish is a lingering memory of somethingminerally, satisfying and powerful – the flavours slowly fading over time rather than morphingand changing tune. This is an astounding wine and should it be resisted long enough, willcellar gracefully and magnificently for many years to come.

Why's this wine for you?
All of the fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed followed by 100% barrel fermentationin select French oak (approx. 30% new oak). Fermentation was allowed to occur naturally, withthe wild yeasts responsible for the fermentation introducing more complexity and personalityinto the wine. Barrels were lees stirred throughout a nine-month oak maturation period, withoutany malolactic fermentation. Only the best barrels were selected for the final blend which wasput together in November 2018.
How's it taste?
COLOUR: Pale straw.BOUQUET: The bouquet of this elegant yet powerful Chardonnay offers pristine fruitaromas of fresh pears, grapefruit, and white fleshed nectarines withunderlying hints of oatmeal, and roasted almonds.PALATE: The fine boned palate is medium bodied offering citrus, nashi pearsand tangy stone fruits with a lovely saline/oyster-shell character in thebackground. Precise and pure, the fruit is complimented with subtle creamyelements and a pithy grapefruit edge adding structure. The intensity of fruitand the bracing acidity combine to provide drive to the wine, focussing itperfectly to a crisp, lingering finish.C E L L A R I N G P O T E N T I A L :A powerful, and sophisticated Chardonnay displaying classic Margaret River intensity – the 2018Reserve is only just starting to unfurl, upon release, and will most certainly reward with carefulcellaring.
How was it made?
The growing season began with good, even budburst after average Winter rainfall. The mild
Spring which followed ensured that there was good flowering and fruit set. A moderate start
to Summer, with no heat extremes, set up the harvest well with white varieties offering great
flavour intensity and bright acidity. There was an incredible display of Marri blossom (tagged as
a once in a generation ‘mega-blossom’) which meant bird pressure was practically non-existent
whilst the whites were harvested. A minor rain event occurred in mid-March which was followed
by fine, warm conditions that prevailed right through to middle of April, allowing all red varieties
to achieve great flavour and tannin ripeness. In summary 2018 will be remembered as an
outstanding vintage!
100% of the fruit for this Reserve Chardonnay is from our oldest Chardonnay vineyard, the
Lagan Estate. The low yielding vineyard produces bunches with characteristic ‘hen and chicken’
architecture typical of the Gingin clone. We encourage natural fermentation on fruit from this
vineyard to further emphasize the personality of this wonderful site which is directly adjacent to
the winery.

Wonderfully expressive chardonnay from this great vintage. It’s a single vineyard wine allfrom the original planting on Lagan estate and has been made with all natural wild yeastswith regular lees stirring. Goodall doesnt put this wine through malolactic fermentation, contributing to its brightness and tense energy. It has an intriguing mix of savoury and briochewith a light honeycomb crumble. Arguably the finest yet from this estate.

This has a complex and attractively intense nose, offering lemons and nectarines, aswell as green mangoes and lemon curd with light wet-stone nuances. The palate has ascintillatingly fresh core of grapefruit, lemons and nectarines. Taut and zesty, delivering a long, mouthwatering finish. Super chardonnay. Drink or hold.

Fruit from the oldest chardonnay vines on the property, fermented wild in barrel, no mlf atall. It puts a fresh face on power, it puts succulence into length, it puts botanical nuances intopristine varietal flavour. The x-factor here is quite pronounced.

A superb example of high quality Chardonnay with strong DNA of Margaret River. Openswith fresh stone fruit and vanilla cream scents through flinty, minerally things chime in. Thepalate is similar - compact, concentrated and exceptional in length. A powerful style but withrefreshment factor on its side. Complex, stellar wine.

The bouquet is shy and slightly muffled, with some smoky oak nuances, plus a trace ofhoneyed, malty solids-like touches. Nougat. Complex. Intense lemony fruit powers the palate, with lively, balanced acidity that refreshes the mouth nicely. Long, energetic aftertaste - a verysmart wine indeed. Ideally it needs another year.
