Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

Adelaide Hills shiraz, with new packaging I see. It’s a bold, ripe, generous style with licorice, sweet black cherry, floral and peppercorn flavours bursting through. Lots of body, not so much spice, but well formed and textured. Pretty good length too. It’s an appealing, fruit-forward style with just enough extra to keep you interested. It’s well priced too.

Ned Goodwin - Halliday's Wine Companion

Straight-shooting warm climate Aussie shiraz, with just the faintest sense that this could, perhaps, come from somewhere cooler: iodine and florals. Otherwise, Cherry Ripe, mint and vanillin oak. Oomph.

Tasting Notes

If we had to describe our Shiraz in one word, we’d go with moreish. It’s lush, beautifully textured and will complement any winter fare. It offers dark cherry and black fruit on the palate with cool climate spice and elegance gently integrating the grippy silk tannins. The careful selection of French Oak, it’s dry finish and hills brightness, make this wine a stand out and one that we’re proud to take home!

Winemakers Note

The Shiraz block was harvested over three almost successive days in early March, being the 4th, 10th and 11th. Once in the winery, a wide range of small fermenters were utilised, varying in size from two to ten tonnes. These were pumped-over early on and then hand plunged twice daily towards the end of ferment. Each parcel was permitted to reach 28-30°C then gently pressed after spending fourteen to twenty one days on skins and then transferred into a blend of new and seasoned French Barriques to complete primary and secondary fermentation.
