The Goulburn Valley, home of Tahbilk is famous for its stonefruit. Peaches, nectarines, apricots the lot - it's just prime country for fruit.

Little wonder that this sunny location would be perfect for making generous and juicy Chardonnay, just like this one.

To be honest, this white isn't that ripe and sweet, but it does have some lovely stonefruit characters, all backed up by crisp citrussy acidity and minimal oak. Ripe fruit, but not oaky, crisp but fresh. A winner, from a winery that knows how to make honest, great value wines.

How's it taste?

Honeydew melon, peach and hints of tropical fruits are beautifully balanced with toasty French and American oak to deliver an elegant and stylish wine.

Who made it?

The name Tahbilk comes from the language of the Daung-wurrung clans, the first people in the area. They called it tabilk-tabilk which means place of many waterholes. Tahbilk Wines was established in 1860 in the Nagambie lakes sub region of Victoria’s Goulburn Valley. It is home to a unique meso-climate, influenced by inland lakes and lagoons fed from the Goulburn River. Purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, Tahbilk is home to 5 generations. Tahbilk is home to 200 hectares of vine, including the traditional Rhone Valley varietals Marsanne, Viognier, Roussanne, Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre. Classic varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho are also present. Tahbilk's flagship 1860 Vines Shiraz is produced from the estate’s original 1/2 ha of ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Shiraz vines that are amongst the oldest in the world.
