2018 Philippe Bouchard Beaujolais

2018 Philippe Bouchard Beaujolais

Vibrant Beaujolais in the true style - i.e. extremely drinkable (and delicious). Pretty red fruits, that hint of pepper too.

Gamay from Beaujolais makes for such pretty wines, as this wine shows. Light bodied, but not thin, with a perfect balance of flavours. It will even handle a chill in the fridge.

How's it taste?

Bright and vibrant with lifted red fruits, and an almost candied-cherry note. The palate is light and juicy, with nice acidity and lovely clean finish. Supremely drinkable.

How was it made?

Vinification in stainless steel vats at 30°C for the semi-carbonic maceration. The wine then remains in the vats for 3 to 6 months.

Who made it?

Philippe Bouchard is a Burgundian negociant working with wines from both Burgundy and the Rhone, with wines spanning entry level products right through to Grand Cru Burgundy. Wines are very much built in the classic style, the winemaking halfway between non-interventionist and more modern methods.
