Crafted by Frank Tate, who was one of the original family members who put Evans & Tate on the map, this full-flavoured Cabernet blend shows juicy blackberry Cabernet characters, with ripe Merlot fleshiness, alongside a little Margaret River mint and some fine tannins.

How's it taste?

A lifted bouquet of dark plums and red berries are combined with herbaceous leafy, nutmeg, dark chocolate and cedar oak. Mouth filling flavours of ripe dark plums and sweet blackberries are balanced with nutmeg and vanilla spice. Silky smooth, yet firm tannins add great length to the finish of this medium bodied wine.

How was it made?

The fruit is sourced from a number of premium vineyards across the Margaret River region. Each parcel was fermented separately in stainless steel. The Merlot received gentle maceration techniques whilst the Cabernet was worked a little harder for extraction of tannin and to create the structure to support the final wine style. Each parcel was pressed off skins and matured using French oak.

Who made it?

Miles from Nowhere is the winery of ex-Evans & Tate Chairman Franklin Tate, who set this up after E & T was sold. Franklin's vineyard is also in Cowaramup, the sleepy hamlet north of the Margaret River township that is famous for its fields of plastic cows. Specialising in classic Margaret River styles - like Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blends, Chardonnay, Cabernet Merlot and Shiraz, the Miles From Nowhere wines show a unique balance between flavour and regional character at glorious prices.
