Expert Reviews

96 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine CompanionThe vineyard was planted by Leo Buring in '62, purchased from Southcorp in a Bond Moment by the Barry family in '86. It always produces grapes with an ethereal ability to transform the very good into a category of its own, glistening like pure silver reflecting the rays of the morning sun.
95 Points - Gary Walsh - The Wine FrontBrisk and pure, intensity of flavour, delivered with precision, closing with superb length, dusty tracks of talc-like texture in its wake. Lemon, lime, a little bit of ginger and bathtime florals. Happy days. It's a sizzler.'

Tech stuff

How's it taste?

This wine is a very pale straw colour with a slight green tinge. Opens with powerful floral aromatics of citrus blossom, pear and lime. The Florita is fine and elegant with immense purity and great length of flavour. Pure lime fruit is dominant with a long citrus like finish. A magnificent benchmark dry Riesling to be enjoyed now or with careful cellaring for the next ten years.

How was it made?

This micro-batch, super-premium Riesling is the fruit of years of patience. We selected individual rows where the terra rossa and loam barely cover the deep limestone below. To guarantee the freshness of these precious grapes, we carefully picked batches to precisely fill our membrane press in the chill of night and destemmed the bunches without crushing them.
