Why's this wine for you?

When this wine landed on the Collective tasting bench, we knew it was a winner. Plump, dark berried and full-bodied, it's a Heathcote dreamboat. A picture-perfect expression of that hearty, luscious Heathcote style in a wonderfully approachable style.

So what is the wine? Well, Helen's Hill is Yarra Valley-based, but the seduction of Heathcote Shiraz was too much for winemaker Scott McCarthy to resist, leading him to track down some great Shiraz fruit and turn it into something magical.

How's it taste?
Crushed and destemmed, open-fermented, 14 days on skins, matured for 10 months in French oak (10% new). A great example of why Heathcote is regarded as one of the foremost regions in Australia for shiraz. This overflows with supple blackberry fruit, rounded tannins and a clean finish.
