As the name suggests, this is a small parcel release of premium Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and it's something special.

It's a more complex Marlborough Sauv, with layers of flavour, a long finish and even some ageworthiness. It's Kiwi Sauv Blanc, just all grown up.

How's it taste?

Tropical notes of guava and passionfruit on the nose. A rich palate with layers of fruit, followed by subtle savoury and herbal characters that are balanced by chalky acidity.

How was it made?

Fruit is selected from vineyards throughout the Wairau Valley and Awatere Valley in the Marlborough wine region. This scope gives Giesen Wines the ability to consistently blend year in, year out.

The fruit selected from the Wairau Valley adds brightness, tropical and citrus flavours, as well as tighter acidity to the Giesen Estate Sauvignon Blanc blend. Compared to the Wairau Valley, the Awatere Valley is slightly cooler, drier, windier with higher elevation. The fruit selected from the Awatere Valley for this wine adds fullness, richness, the tropical notes are more grilled, herbal notes are more dry.

As soon as the fruit arrives in the winery the fruit is de-stemmed and gently pressed. Specially selected yeasts are added to the juice to start fermentation which takes approximately three weeks at temperatures between 12 - 16 deg.C.

Who made it?

The three Giesen brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel are proof familial relationships and business can work harmoniously, with good humour - and international success. Thanks to their Grandfather sommelier August, Great Grandfather Leonhard Kaiser who was a brewer and their parents who gave the brothers a love of international cuisine – the trio had the drinks trade and hospitality in their DNA.
