Expert Reviews

93 Points - Joe Czerwinski - Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Pinot Noir was made by Paul Mason, winemaker at Martinborough Vineyard. The wine is very ripe without going over the top, the dark cherries joined by hints of thyme and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, this wine is concentrated and richly textured, yet it remains fresh, juicy and mouthwatering on the long finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.'

How was it made?

The wine has a pale gold colour with glints of emeralds. This wine has a lovely fresh and fruity nose. It is a charming wine that carries a beautiful mixed aroma of fresh fruits such as passion fruit. Eric Louis is producer in Thauveney-en-Sancerrois in the Loire. The Louis family wine business began as early as 1860. Now Eric is at the helm and winemaker at the domaine, which extends over 10 hectares on the south- east side of the Sancerre vineyard. It has a pale gold colour with glints of emeralds.

I love experimenting with wines and encourage our Wine Collective members to try something different all the time. It’s amazing how the same grape variety from 2 different regions made by 2 different wine makers can taste so different. Some wines can be enjoyed on their own while others are better with food. If we all liked the same thing we’d be pretty boring.
