How's it taste?
Appearance: Pale straw with tinges of greenBouquet: Bright fruit aromas of pink grapefruit, nectarine and nashi pear areoverlaid with roasted hazelnut and oak spice. Subtle aromas of brioche, gun flint,lemon zest and nougat provide appealing complexity and interest to the nose.Palate: A richly flavoured, full bodied wine displaying purity of fruit and intensity offlavour. A creamy texture balanced with fine natural acidity that finishes withextraordinary length of flavour.
How was it made?
he grapes for the Brookland Valley Reserve Chardonnay are selected fromdistinct rows within the old vine Chardonnay patch at the front of the BrooklandValley property. The low yields and unique vineyard site provides depth, intensityand classic Chardonnay characters. The 2018 Brookland Valley ReserveChardonnay is crafted in a minimalist intervention style to truly reflect theexpression of the site and vintage. The wine is a testament to the style and qualityour winemaking and viticulture teams set out to achieve.The low yielding vines from the Brookland Valley Estate vineyard were selectedand hand harvested to facilitate whole bunch pressing. The fruit was hand sortedby passing over a sorting table to ensure optimum quality before pressing to tank.The juice is then immediately transferred to French oak barriques for indigenousfermentation. The wine remains on yeast lees for ten months with routinebattonage and a spontaneous malolactic fermentation contributing to the textureand complexity of the wine.

I introduced the review of the 2013 with “It’s been a while between drinks on the Brookland Reserve Chardonnay scene here at The Wine Front.”.Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Creamy cashew, honeydew melon, lime, vanilla nougat and biscuit spices. Smooth and glossy, gently creamy, but juicy too, with a burst of lime and grapefruity acidity, firm flinty grip, green olive and Kraft® Singles, and a pleasing finish of lime and vanilla. Lovely. Very good now, too.
