"Dense, savoury, spiced black fruits. Chocolate, prunes, minty and savoury."

Sam Taylor

"Fantastic concentration on the palate. Great Work with this wine."

Sam Taylor

Ripe and generous McLaren Vale Cabernet with big black fruit flavours. That's what you expect with Vale reds though, and this doesn't disappoint. Blackberry, blackberry and oh yes, more blackberry.

Expert Reviews

93 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitThis is classically expressed on the nose showing blackcurrant, cocoa, cedar and floral characters with a touch of dried herb complexity. The palate is wonderfully weighted and brightly fruited, delivering excellent intensity and fine texture, delightfully framed by fine chalky tannins.

How's it taste?

Rich dark fruits fill the mouth in waves: blackcurrant, blackberry and mulberry, with subtle notes of chocolate and a soft tannin structure.

How was it made?

Bayliss Road is the second label of Vinrock Wines and the range is made exclusively for The Wine Collective by winemaker Michael Fragos. The Black Label range is extremely popular and it’s easy to see why; every year the wines are rich, concentrated and full-flavoured. This parcel comes from Luca vineyard, a boutique family vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale. After gentle pressing the free run juice and the pressing fractions were blended together and then aged for 12 months in a mix of new and old French Hogshead before release.

Who made it?

Bayliss Road is a label from Vinrock Wines out of McLaren Vale. Vinrock's Luca Vineyard was established in 1998 by Don Luca, along with his sons-in-law. Initially all the fruit was contracted, but 2004 saw the first wines produced under the Vinrock label. The philosophy was, and still is, the creation of wines expressing purity of variety and regional character.

The Bayliss Road label is a range of wines designed for early-drinking, with a more fruit-forward, vibrant style. Winemaker Michael Fragos (from Chapel Hill), keeps a watchful eye over the Vinrock Wines, including Bayliss Road.
