Mandala's exceptional new Yarra Valley Chardonnay really is stunning.

From a winemaker who knows how to make fine white wines, and a near perfect vintage, this is simply beautiful stuff.

The previous vintage of this star wine won over all and sundry. This '17 we predict will follow in the same footsteps. A beautifully complex Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

95 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine CompanionWhole-bunch pressed, fermented in French barriques (50% new), 10% mlf, matured for 12 months. Rich and complex, with stone fruit dominant, white peach and nectarine showing the way for other contenders to make their presence felt (a touch of unsweetened grapefruit juice).
93 Points - Campbell Mattinson - The Wine FrontJuicy. So juicy. Fresh fruit, creamy mouthfeel, pear and peach, nectarine and apple. It has length and crunch but it feels joyous and lively. Beautifully presented chardonnay. Elegant, complex and textural at once.

How's it taste?

Aromas of white peach and ripe pear, almond nougat and hints of vanilla and jasmine. Supported by stone fruit and fresh lemon-lime characters in the mouth, the finish is long and textural, displaying an exceptional natural acidity, pink grapefruit and well-integrated spicy French oak.

How was it made?

The Chardonnay fruit was hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and split into two batches for low temperature fermentation in French oak barriques.

Who made it?

Established by the Smedley family, Mandala Wines is a five-star James Halliday-rated Yarra Valley winery. The main site and Cellar Door at Dixon's Creek offers a full range of prized Estate wines for tasting, along with its renowned assortment of single-site wines. It was the family's favourite wines which lead them to the Yarra Valley region; Charles' love of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plus the region's famous sublime cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, made it the perfect choice. But Mandala have also established Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot vines too. With ther sites only an hour from Melbourne, it really was the best place to unearth Mandala and make the wines they love to drink. Today Mandala is thriving within its beautiful Yarra Valley country setting, where their kids play and older ones spend time together, tell stories and enjoy the good life. The Smedley family want Mandala to be their legacy for the future generations, and to be indulged by whomever catches the wine bug.

We don't seem to have the exact wine you are after.. However, here are some of my favourites that I think work for all occasions, be it a BBQ or a fancy dinner.
