From a block at Sevenhill comes another intensely flavoured classic Riesling from Jeanneret.
With the welcome tendrils of bottle age giving this more richness and complexity, the extra layers sitting over the primal nature acidity.

Serious Clare Valley Riesling, from a great vintage, with a little more softness thanks to the time in bottle.

Expert Reviews

95 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitSupremely fine and elegant, the wine shows delicate aromas of lemon/lime peel, apple blossom and green tea with a touch of wet limestone on the nose. The palate is focused and concentrated, delivering fabulous fruit purity and vibrancy, brilliantly structured by bright acidity. Restrained, refined and exquisite.
92 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine CompanionPrecisely articulated, the framework for the future plain to see. Worthy of 5 years, and should be assessed periodically over that time

How's it taste?

An archetypal Riesling grown over slate, the Sevenhill is pale, zesty and racy; it has a beautiful tension between its delicate but intense fruit and its piercing acidity. On the nose, there's buckets of lemons, both juice and zest together with the distinctive minerality that Riesling so often picks up when grown on slate. Of all the white grapes Riesling is the most sensitive to the terroir in which it is grown and this is part of what makes it such a fascinating variety. There's some green apple too which gives flesh both to the nose and palate.

How was it made?

The vines grow on slate just beneath very shallow soils and this wine shows all of those characteristics. From the delicate floral and citrus aromas to the slatey, minerally flavours. It’s fresh and lively and has a lovely richness and roundness to finish. It’s pretty and fine – as Riesling should be and it’s drinking very well right now.

Who made it?

Jeanneret Wines was established in 1992 by the Jeanneret family who were led heart first into the regions’ vineyards. A passion for making wines purely for their own enjoyment organically expanded into a business and the Jeanneret cellar door was opened in October 1994. Headed up by self-taught Winemaker, Ben Jeanneret, our ethos is to produce generous wines full of flavour to be enjoyed amongst friends. Ben has perfected the art and is regarded as one of the leading winemakers of Clare Valley and was named one of the “Ten Dark Horses” by James Halliday. The business has continued to grow, change and innovate, but one thing has always remained the same – to make great wines from local grapes.
