Somewhere in the Vale you’ll find a very special block of old vine Shiraz. If you search for it, a stand of trees to the West and the creek crossing adjacent to the vineyard may guide you.

This special old block yields ultra concentrated fruit, that when massaged by skilled hands, turns into truly epic heavyweight McLaren Vale Shiraz like this.

You want power, and magnificent power? You've come to the right place.

Expert Reviews

96 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitBold and brooding, this magnificent offering shows blackberry, blueberry jam, violet, vanilla pod and roasted nut characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is impressively weighted and lavishly textured. Super long and immensely appealing.
94 Points - Campbell Mattinson - Halliday's Wine CompanionOpen-fermented. 50% new oak of unknown origin. Might and power meets polish. It's a glass-staining red but it feels soft and smooth, plum and musk/clove characters doing all the heavy lifting. Tannin and acid are where they need to be; meanwhile the power of fruit gets on with business.

Tech stuff

How's it taste?

Concentrated and generous with dark fruits and black cherry, the old vines contribute complex spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. A full bodied, luscious and elegant wine that is perfectly balanced by fine grain tannins and lingering structural finish.

How was it made?

Crushed but not destemmed to open fermenters, Mixed culture yeast used. Fermented at 22-28 degrees and plunged 2 x day with a gentle pumpover during the first few days of ferment. On skins for 12 days before pressing direct to new,1 yo and 2 yo French oak Hogsheads. Matured for18 months in oak with minimal rack and returns, the barrels are then individually selected to allow for fruit expression and complimenting oak tannin and flavour.

We don't seem to have the exact wine you are after.. However, here are some of my favourites that I think work for all occasions, be it a BBQ or a fancy dinner.
