Star Pinot from a star location? No wonder this is a winner.

The Domain Road vineyard is located in Bannockburn, next door to none other than Felton Road, arguably New Zealand’s most famous Pinot producer.

Domain Road Vineyard's owners Graeme and Gillian Crosbie proudly embrace sustainable farming for their mature vineyard... and it pays off. This wine is not a big wine. It shows a combination of purity, finesse, fruit generosity and effortless flavour that makes for such a beautiful drink - especially paired with roast duck or other game dishes.

Expert Reviews

95 Points - Bob Campbell MW - The Real ReviewAppealingly aromatic pinot noir with plum, cherry, chalk, mineral, spice and smoky oak flavours. An elegant and moderately concentrated wine, with a backbone of fine, drying tannins. Nice purity and subtle power.

How's it taste?

With dark purple hues, this wine is wonderfully complex. Fragrant aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and violets, with a hint of spice and vanilla, are complemented by rich dark fruit, black plum and ripe blackberry, on the palate. A complex, concentrated wine with ample fine tannins and a hint of chocolate and spice in its tantalisingly long finish.

How was it made?

Our Pinot Noir vines grow on two rare Bannockburn sites untouched by miners. For almost 100 years fruit was grown on the Domain Road site, peaches, pears and apples originally and then Apricots at a later stage. It has been said that if you can grow Apricots then you can also grow great Pinot Noir and this has certainly been the case at Domain Road.

Our second vineyard, Defiance on Felton Road is considered to be one of the prime sites in this well known location. Our Pinot Noir vines from these two sites deliver a complexity that reflect the unique location of the vineyards.

Who made it?

Domain Road Vineyard, owned by Graeme and Gillian Crosbie, specialises in award-winning cool climate wines. From grapes grown in the heart of Central Otago wine country, they produce Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Rosé, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Gris wines. Dedication to excellence combined with a traditional approach means Domain Road Vineyard's wines are now nationally and internationally recognised. The grapes grow on the upper Bannockburn terraces, above the Kawarau River. The vineyards are in a high altitude setting, surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges. The challenging terroir produces wines of structure and elegance, with pure, intense flavours.
