2016 Vignemastre Dardo Toscana
Sangiovese doesn't need to be heavy and tannic, with this bright and lively Tuscan red balancing both berry fruit and then fine tannins to finish.
Approachable and savoury Italian red.
How's it taste?
Dardo is made of 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in selected vineyards across Tuscany. This beautiful vintage allowed us winemakers to pick the grapes at the desired ripening point, creating a blend with a great balance between fruitiness and freshness with a medium food friendly body.
How was it made?
Our Sangiovese was picked from September 25th through October 1st and, after crush, fermentations were conducted with brief pumpovers and daily punch downs to maintain the red fruit aromas and soft tannins. No new barrels were used to age this wine in order to keep the varietal aromas as pure possible. The wine was bottled in a Bordeaux screwcap bottle with an careful use of oxygen during the winemaking process. The attention applied to all the winemaking processes and the Stelvin closure allowed us to keep sulfite levels very low.
