Merlot généreux, ample, fruité, peut-être le plus harmonieux jamais produit ici. Vraiment fait pour séduire sans vulgarité dans les bons restaurants. 92.5

A structured wine from Denis Dubourdieu Domaines, this offers black fruits that are developing well. Rich, smoky, full of tannins and berry flavors, the wine is fleshy and well endowed. Drink from 2022.

The 2016 Rahoul is a blend of 60% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot picked from 28 September until 10 October. It has a well-defined bouquet with blackberry, sandalwood and light smoky aromas. I like the focus and detail of this Rahoul. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, very refined with nicely integrated new oak and a long, quite sensual finish. You know, this is a very good Rahoul that will surpass the excellent 2015.

Lots of smoke tobacco, earth, and savory, meaty dark fruits emerge from the 2016 Château Rahoul, which is medium to full-bodied, with sweet tannins and solid balance. This is an enjoyable, well-made wine to drink over the coming decade or so.

A little sweet oak on the nose. Well paced and certainly well extracted without being drying. Coffee beans predominate over the blackberry fruits. Drinking Window 2023 - 2038

This has a good tarry spine running through a mix of gently mulled red and black currant fruit. Sweet tobacco and savory notes hang on the finish. Drink now through 2021. 11,100 cases made, 100 cases imported. — JM

The 2016 Rahoul is ripe, forward and succulent, all of which give it quite a bit of early appeal. Super-ripe dark flavors add to the wine's racy personality.

Winemakers Note

A member of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux and Academie du Vin de Bordeaux, Château Rahoul boasts a great diversity of terroirs. The Château now ranks among the finest of the appellation. The Graves red reveals great finesse and elegance. Painstaking work in the vineyard and constantly updated practices have resulted in the creation of very charming red wines, where the complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot enhance fruity, elegant Merlot.
