Sarah Linhart

"Black fruits, with a medium-bodied palate. A lighter style of Shiraz."

Sarah Linhart

Felix Gentle

"Ripe, dark fruits, nice concentration. Good value here."

Felix Gentle

From the heart of cherry country in the NSW Hilltops comes a lovely medium bodied red that showcases both choc berry flavour with a wonderful lift of spices. Hearty wine but still not heavy - just well made.

Expert Reviews

93 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitSweetly fruited and generously expressed, the wine shows fabulous dark fruit intensity with attractive notes of roasted nut, game and cocoa on the nose. The palate is succulent and smooth with excellent fruit weight and velvety mouthfeel, finishing persistent and delicious. At its best: now to 2024.

How's it taste?

The nose displays aromas of dark fruit, spice and pepper. The full-bodied palate bursts with dark berries and plum fruit flavours interwoven with peppery spice and subtle oak. Fine tannins add structure, depth and length on the finish.

How was it made?

Shiraz from the NSW Hilltops region made in an earthy, regional medium bodied style

Who made it?

Penmara was created when five, well-established, family-owned vineyards joined together to take control over the way they were making and distributing wine. Located in the Hunter Valley with access to vineyards in Orange and the surrounding areas provides them with access to different climates and soil types. This enables them to produce quality wines of character with a unique sense of place.

You can’t judge a wine by its label; which makes it hard to know what to buy if you haven’t tasted it. Everyone’s palate is different, but recommendations are a good place to start. Here are some of the wines I’ve enjoyed recently and provide excellent value for money.
