Steve Webber doesn't often make a sweeter style of Rose, but this one does have a kiss of sweetness that is bound to make it popular, especially at the bargain price! Aromas of red berries and cherries float around the glass, whilst the palate is light-bodied and refreshing, with that subtle lick of sweetness, and a smooth, bright finish. Great with chili-inspired Thai food!
Appearance: Stunning pale salmon pink.
Bouquet: Lifted citrus and strawberry perfumed aromatics.
Palate: This Rose is light and zippy displaying strawberry fruit with hints of rose petal. The tangy berry flavours mingle with cherries to give a mouthful of fruit which is balanced by fine acid giving it length and structure.
Vintage conditions: Good winter rains and a mild spring lead provided good growing conditions leading into the harvest. After rain in January, a warm dry vintage followed allowing for the fruit to reach ripeness with a wealth of flavour.
Winemaking: Shiraz and Cabernet fruit was selected that displayed lifted berry flavours in the vineyard that are reflected in this Rose wine. Harvest takes place in the cool of the night to retain the fresh fruit flavours, the fruit is crushed and pressed immediately to give the pale colour, then fermentation occurs at 12-14°C for two to three weeks.
Cellaring: Drink now whilst fresh and fruity.
Food match: This dry, textural style matches well with:
Antipasto - platter of cured meats; salami; pate
Pork - salumi; charcuterie; roast pork
Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
Sacred Hill is no lolly juice. This is the most trustworthy supercheap rosŽ going, and 2011 is refreshingly stylish, off-dry and even a touch textural.
WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Dry, elegant style with unctuous strawberry and melon aromas and a balanced, weighty, candied citrus-like palate.
Peter Forrestal (2008 Vintage) says
The De Bortoli team often hits the mark with this bargain-basement brand - as they do with this delicious juicy, light-bodied rose: bright red berry fruit and a clean zingy finish with a touch of sweetness.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bright raspberry bouquet with a touch of bramble; clearly defined, fresh, crisp and lively; cleverly handled sweetness is barely noticeable on the finish. Exceptional value

Tyson Stelzer (2007 Vintage) says
"This is the only rosé under $14 that you should be caught drinking this
year, and when you find it on special... you'll be beside yourself!
It's a sensational spicy-berry-flavoured wine."
