"A good value Cabernet Blend. Elegant and supple on the palate."

Sarah Linhart

"Minty, black fruits. Syrupy, warm dark fruit. Chewy tannins."

Sarah Linhart

This has $20 dollar red stamped large all over it - which makes finding it under a tenner a steal!

A seriously good wine that is way too cheap - grab this 2016 Chain of Ponds Novello Cabernet Merlot while you can.

If it was from Coonawarra or Margaret River it would be twice the price!

Expert Reviews

Destemmed, 8 days on skins, matured in French oak for 10 months. I can't fathom why this has such a low price. It's rich and supple, with layer upon layer of luscious cassis/Ribena fruit offset by a precisely judged framework of savoury herbal fruit and ripe tannins. Will go the distance many times over. 476 dozen made. 94 points - James Halliday's Wine Companion

How’s it taste?

Well balanced palate with tight acidity, intense and vibrant dark berry fruits with nuances of blueberry and plum and balanced with subtle savoury notes. Velvety tannins give approachability and drinkability while still giving structure and texture to the wine. Brilliant length and richness are balanced by a restrained acid backbone that gives drive and intensity to the wine.
