The 'Village' range from Yering Station is living testament that you don't have to pay big bucks for a decent drink. And when they also come from an excellent vintage, it's time to stock up and make the most of them. Aromas of red and black berried fruits rise form the glass, along with hints of roses and soft spices. The palate is medium-bodied and quite fruity, with black plums and cherry flavours, supple, savoury tannins, and a dry, earthy spiced finish. It's unbelievable value, and will match well with duck or even kangaroo.
Beautifully aromatic, this classic Yarra Valley Pinot Noir shows red and black cherry notes complimented with enticing earthy undertones and subtle savoury spice.
Colour: Bright red cherry.
Nose: Lifted perfume of violets and lavender. All spice intertwined with gamey, briary red and black cherry fruits. Complimented with subtle vanillin oak.
Palate: Soft and juicy. Lovely mix of elegant fruit savoury spice and earthly undertones. Supple tannins and velvet like finish.
Cellar: Now - 2027.
Wine Companion (2015 Vintage) says
Open-fermented, and then 11 months in mostly seasoned 500L French oak. For a fairly modestly priced Yarra Pinot there is some genuine complexity here. Aromas of sour cherry, crab apple and a touch of forest floor with a smoky oak overlay. Lovely texture; supple and seamless, with flavours swirling all round the palate, and an impressively long, sappy tannin finish.

Campbell Mattinson (2015 Vintage) says
Add this one to the no-brainer list. It’s pretty smart drinking. You’d be happy with this for just about any occasion. It’s all sweet-sour cherry and cranberry with enough spice and undergrowth-like flavour to make it feel like the real McCoy. It’s generally satiny – helped along by smoky oak – but there’s a shoot of dry tannin reaching back through the wine. There’s no need to decant or anything like that; it’s ready-to-rip immediately on opening.
