Sarah Linhart

"Crunchy red berry fruit. Good fruit intensity"

Sarah Linhart

This five-star-rated Victorian dynamo has a reputation for some of the most consistently tasty wines around, and today they've lobbed up a surprise packet - a delicious Victorian Pinot! Sourced from a selection of Pinot-friendly spots throughout the state, this Pinot Noir is a hearty, yet juicy Pinot, with ripe red berry aplenty.

To be honest, this really is an unexpected find. We know that Tahbilk can nail Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. But Pinot Noir too? Team Tahbilk we take our hats off to you!!

How's it taste?

Delicious red berry fruits, dark cherry and spice characters, there are mushroom and floral backgrounds contributing to a delicious complexity and fine tannins.

How was it made?

Pinot Noir grapes for this release come from vineyards across Victoria, the fruit harvested at varied levels of ripeness to give freshness and ripe fruit flavours. Matured in French oak, it is released with a little more bottle age to encourage complexity.

Who made it?

The name Tahbilk comes from the language of the Daung-wurrung clans, the first people in the area. They called it tabilk-tabilk which means place of many waterholes. Tahbilk Wines was established in 1860 in the Nagambie lakes sub region of Victoria’s Goulburn Valley. It is home to a unique meso-climate, influenced by inland lakes and lagoons fed from the Goulburn River. Purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, Tahbilk is home to 5 generations. Tahbilk is home to 200 hectares of vine, including the traditional Rhone Valley varietals Marsanne, Viognier, Roussanne, Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre. Classic varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho are also present. Tahbilk's flagship 1860 Vines Shiraz is produced from the estate’s original 1/2 ha of ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Shiraz vines that are amongst the oldest in the world.

Let’s face it - we all have very different wine tastes and not every wine you find will be right for you right now. That’s why I’ve put together a little selection of my favourites - wines that I’d be very happy to enjoy this weekend which are guaranteed to hit the spot.
