Lurid, violet color. Lively, mineral-tinged aromas of cherry, black raspberry and candied flowers pick up a suggestion of incense as the wine stretches out. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering intense cherry liqueur, dark berry and spicecake flavors and a suave violet pastille accent. Finishes silky, floral and impressively long, with fine-grained tannins adding shape and gentle grip. (Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, followed by 10 months in a stainless steel tank.)

How's it taste?
The dark fruited, structured palate and the fine, powdery tannins evokes quality Côte de Beaune, yet the roll call of flavours points to something more off-piste with beguiling scents and flavours of tobacco, leather, tea leaves, spices and sour cherry keeping you tethered to the glass as the texture slowly unfurls. Expect both generous texture and fine vibrant freshness.
How was it made?
From the same vineyard as the Gorvia Blanco, this Galician 'Burgundy' is a field blend of 90-something percent Mencía, with the balance Bastardo and Caiño. It was fermented with 60% whole bunches in a wooden vat before an astonishing six months post ferment maceration after which it was racked into a variety of old casks
