Tapping into their extensive vineyard resources to full effect, McGuigan here has a delivered a pretty handy Coonawarra Cabernet that for any other brand would be a lot more expensive.
The best thing about this wine is the tannins - it's got loads of them, helping to drive the whole wine forward and ensuring this will still be alive in decades to come.

Expert Reviews

90 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards 2018 - SilverUpfront nose of brambles, cassis, cigar box, eucalyptus and a minty freshness. Deep rich flavours, coffee, treacle, spicy herbaceous edge.
88 Points - Ned Goodwin - Halliday's Wine CompanionThe regional voice of blackcurrant and peppermint paddy after dinner mints, is at the fore. Bay leaf, sage and eucalyptus, too. This has personality, if not some rough tannic edges.

How's it taste?

Ripe dark berries, a little mint and then more dark berries on the nose, the palate is medium bodied with drying tannins and a long finish.

How was it made?

The Coonawarra is a region famous for producing the highest quality Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. We have developed this wine true to that style with rich blackcurrant and choc mint flavours and a soft tannin structure.

Who made it?

McGuigan wines is a name synonymous with Australian wine making. Steeped in rich, Hunter Valley tradition, our wines are the product of four generations of McGuigan family wine makers who have made wine their life and demonstrate a constant and deep commitment to producing some of the finest products on the market.
