It's not rocket science, neither does it require a lot of thought. It's just honest to goodness fun drinking that even Mum and Grandma can enjoy. It's a light-bodied, sweet style with a fun fizz that shows red apples, grapes and musksticks on the nose, whilst the palate is sweet and easy going, with hints of red berries in the flavours, soft acidity, and a smooth finish. Did we mention it's only got 8% alcohol?
Fruit was sourced from vineyards that were well protected from the harsh sun and which displayed the intensity required for this style of wine. Blend of Muscat Gordo Blanco & White Frontignac. A dash of Shiraz is added to give a pink hue. The fruit was picked and pressed cold, in new state of the art bag presses. Juice was left to settle naturally and then racked clean. The wine was fermented cold to retain fresh fruit characters. Fermentation was stopped once a balance was reached between alcohol, sweetness, acidity and bubbles.
Appearance: Seductive pastel pink in colour
Bouquet: The nose displays freshly crushed grapes, with a hint of strawberry
Palate: The palate is lively and fresh as one would expect from a frizzante style wine. It tastes of freshly crushed grapes and pink lady apples.
Cellaring: Best while young & fresh, but will cellar for many years
Food match: This fruit driven style matches well with:
Creamy desserts - panacotta; trifle
Fruity desserts - poached pears and mascarpone cream; lemon tart
Rich chocolate - chocolate mousse with strawberries
Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
The cool 2011 season lends itself well to warm region moscato, accenting its pink pepper and spicy pomegranate notes. This pale crimson style is sweet and honeyed, with lemonade and lemon zest flavours, finishing soft and gentle. Chill it down to ice cold and quaff it in the sun.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Back in the moscato zone: distinctly sweet and fruity, but with enough acidity to prevent it cloying.
