The 2014 Esprit de Pavie was mostly sourced from the Perse family's holdings in Côtes de Castillon, plus young-vine and declassified fruit from the properties in Saint-Émilion. Plump, juicy and expressive, the Esprit is a pretty red to drink now and over the next few years, while the dark red cherry and plum flavors retain their youthful exuberance.

The Esprit de Pavie 2014 is a blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 28 hectoliters per hectare aged in used oak barrels. It comes from vineyards in Castillon that used to be Clos l’Eglise and Ste. Colombe, plus young vines from Pavie and Monbouquet. It has a clean blackcurrant and raspberry-scented bouquet that probably just needs a little more lift. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannin on the entry, grainy in texture with a rather ash-like finish.

Bright red cherries, with red licorice, spice and cocoa in its personality. The wine is made in a medium bodied forward, fresh, early drinking style. 85-87 Pts

A light-bodied forward red with simple red and black fruit and savory herbs. Approachable young and fairly short on the finish. Produces around 150,000 bottles.

Castillon and St-Émilion grapes. 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Average yield 28 hl/ha. Sweet, seductive, round and thick and malty. A bit of acid on the end. But very silky and well made. Just a little sudden on the end and not that refreshing but all stops have been pulled out! 13.55%Drink 2019-2024 16/20
