Way back in 2011 Dandelion were singled out by wine writer James Halliday as one of the best new wineries. Now we're reaching back into history with this aged 2013 premium Shiraz.

This is an intense Eden Valley Shiraz showing plum, blueberry and spice. The palate is a concentrated festival of berries with notes of chocolate and baking spices. It’s well structured with fine tannins and pairs well with steak.

Expert Reviews

95 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine CompanionNonsense ersatz gold circles on the back label; one-third whole bunches in the bottom of open fermenters, two-thirds crushed on top, hand-plunged 11 days, matured in 50% new/50% used French oak for 30 months. The full-on vinification was appropriate for the fruit, which is of high quality and came from 90yo vines.
93 Points - Huon Hooke - The Real ReviewDeep red/purple, excellent colour. The bouquet is smoky/oaky and very toasty, loaded with smoked smallgoods aromas, the palate loaded with licorice and aniseed flavours. The wine is incredibly long on the palate and powerful, the flavour powering on and on. A hint of squashed ants. Tannins are firm and abundant. Character plus!
Julia Harding MW - JancisRobinson.comDeep garnet. Smoky and sweet black fruit. Dark and deliciously chewy with a smoky savoury finish. Big but fresh and with a strong black-olive aftertaste.

How's it taste?

Lingering black fruit on the palate, with pepper seasoning. There is an incredibly deep range of flavour, a mix of red and black berries complimented by vibrant pepper and leaf notes. Elegant tannins and lingering acidity help extend the finish and the overall balance is impeccable

Who made it?

Dandelion Vineyards defies normal description, it is perhaps Australia's most quixotic fusion of vineyard and vigneron. Every bottle signs off with - Wish you were here... Every wine is sourced from a single site. Founder, owner, winemaker - Elena Brooks - is a polymath and perfectionist on a lifelong vinous treasure hunt, following the inspiration of the Dandelion Flower's Wishing Clock. Vineyards = Family. Wines = Children. Serious stuff. Proper fun, absolutely.

A really great wine deal must must be accompanied by great value. There is nothing better than getting an incredible bottle of wine for a fraction of what similar quality wines sell for. My recommendations gives you the very best "Value for money" wines at different price points.
