Dunkle Beerenfrucht, Orangenzesten, schokoladige Nuancen, rauchige Würze, attraktives Bukett. Elegant, sehr gute Komplexität, frische Struktur, finessenreich, sehr mineralisch, schokoladige Länge, sehr gutes Potenzial, salziger Nachhall.

Big tannins here, very dry, but the fruit seems rich enough to support it. It is finely structured, very dense, made for the long haul.–

The 2009 Rauzan-Ségla shows the style of the vintage perfectly and is a ripe, mouthfilling, sexy Margaux that’s just begging to be drunk. It doesn’t have the sheer density of the 2010 but offers a more weightless, full-bodied, layered style as well as fabulous notes of dark fruits, roasted herbs, graphite, chocolate, and tobacco. A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot, it’s going to continue dishing out plenty of pleasure over the coming 20-25 years or more. It’s worth noting that the label here is different due to 2009 being the 350-year anniversary of the estate. Maturity 2019-2044.

Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Rauzan-Ségla bursts from the glass with bold, vivacious Black Forest cake, blackberry pie and warm blueberry scents plus nuances of cardamom, candied violets, smoked meats and Chinese five spice with a waft of dusty soil. Full-bodied, rich, plush and decadent, it completely coats the palate with densely packed preserved black berries layers, finishing very long and spicy. The blend this year is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, harvested between September 22nd and October 11th, at an average yield of 41 hectoliters per hectare. It was aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% new. The alcohol is 14%, and the pH is 3.69. Drink 2020-2035.

Shows a lovely concentration of currant and blackberry. Hints of vanilla follow through to a full body, with layers of ripe fruit and fine, fruit-coated tannins. I love the ripe and pretty fruit to this. Very fruit-forward. The château cut back on the new wood, and went for a fruitier style. I like that.

Robe très sombre. Beau nez de mûre et d’épices. En bouche, le vin est souple et suave avec un beau milieu de bouche serré, le tout est charmeur et révèle une grande maturité du raisin.

This is reminiscent of the amazing 2005 and some of the great wines tasted from the 1980s and 1990s. The opaque ruby/purple colored Rauzan-Seglà offers complex aromas of cherry liqueur, white flower, crushed-limestone dust, savory Asian spices, and cassis. Such flavor, finesse, and beauty due to its gorgeous purity, wet-stone, and cherry extract flavor. This wine is the essence of class and elegace thanks to a remarkable richness, expansiveness, and light-footed nuances. It is certainly a substantial, medium to full-bodied Margaux with 3-4 decades of longevity. In short, there is potent fruit without the gobs of texture. Maturity period 2017-2043+.
